Hi Stedlar,
The Public Queues do not exist in Active Directory, just their configuration
information.
This information is tied to the MSMQ object in AD, which is in turn tied to
the computer object.
If you rebuild a machine with the same name so that it can take up the
computer object again, then the MSMQ object and public queues will follow.

We are returning a server with a clean installation of Server 2008,
but with the same domain name as it had when it was running server
2003.
One of our guys here believes that he worked it out, and his brief

Public queues are available when a machine is running MSMQ in Active
Directory Integrated Mode.
In Windows 2008 this is the "Directory Service Integration" feature of
Message Queuing.
If this option is not selected then simply enable it and continue.

I am currently in the process of moving from server 2003 to server
2008. The application I use requires public queues.
In server 2003 i was able to use "My Computer" "Manage" "Services and
Applications" "Message Queuing" "Public Queues" to create and view the
message queues.
In server 2008 I go to "Computer" "Manage" "Features" "Message

Hi Param,
If the queues are Public then no, there is not an easy solution. You could
write a script to copy the properties of the existing queues and create new
ones using the information.
Don't try copying the Active Directory objects that represent the queues as
the Queue ID must remain unique.

Hi all,
Is there a way to copy queues from one server to another? I have 2 Windows
2008 R2 machines and I have setup all my queues on 1 machine. I need to set
the same queues up on the other machine and was wondering if there was an
easy way to do this.

Is there any way to know the Version number of MSMQ in an operation system?
I want to know the version number of MSMQ in Windows Server 2008 R2, but I
cannot find it.
By the way, what's the latest version of MSMQ at present? And where can I
get the technical information about the latest version of MSMQ?

Thank you very much for the quick reply. This explains an issue we
were having at a client since it seems we were attempting to use
public queues with the AD syntax and the client did not have the core
installed, so troubleshooting got confusing since there were two
issues.

MSMQ is a queue-manager-to-queue-manager system.
Your application just talks to the local queue manager.
The queue manager does the pushing and pulling of messages.
